V8-equipped 2007 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4×4 with 98k Miles

For December 3, 2023, our used car find is this one-owner 2007 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4×4 with 98k miles on the clock and a highly desirable V8 engine under the hood. This example is offered by a private seller on Craigslist in Bend, Oregon, for $19,900 or best offer.

Here’s what makes this one special.

Introduction

The fourth-generation 4Runner, which debuted for the 2003 model year, is perhaps the most unloved of them all. Based on the rugged 120-series Land Cruiser Prado, it is larger, more powerful, more comfortable, and more capable than the now-classic third-gen model it replaced. But it falls short in the looks department — especially in its early years, which are clad with ungainly swaths of unpainted plastic.

Fortunately, Toyota addressed most of these styling woes in a 2005 model refresh. It not only improved the 4Runner’s appearance but also upgraded its automatic gearbox from four to five speeds and boosted power from the available V8 from 235 to 260 horsepower thanks to variable valve timing.

The V8 is the real story here. The fourth is the only 4Runner generation to offer one. Borrowed from the 100-series Land Cruiser, the 4.7-liter mill a legendary powerplant that gives the lighter 4Runner an almost sprightly feel in everyday driving. Plus, it delivers tons of low-rev torque when you need it off-road. It’s also more refined than the standard V6, just as reliable, and costs only one mpg in combined fuel economy. Additionally, it elevates the 4Runner’s towing capacity to an impressive 7,000 pounds.

The Listing

If you’re on the hunt for a V8-equipped 4Runner, this particular example checks all of the boxes. As a 2007 model, it benefits from most of the various updates Toyota made through the fourth generation’s 2003-2009 production run, including its 2005 refresh. It’s also specced in top Limited 4×4 trim, which comes standard with the V8 engine and full-time four-wheel drive. And it’s a one-owner West Coast car with under 100k miles.

Aside from some minor wear on the driver’s seat, we can’t find fault with it.

Almost twenty grand for a fourth-gen 4Runner may seem like huge money. But it’s very much in line with prices for V8-equipped specimens on Bring a Trailer, which have risen to a recent high of $32,500 for a museum-quality 16k-mile example.

Considering that, we think $19,900 for this near-perfect one is not unreasonable.

Find it on Craigslist HERE while you still can.
