This E550 sedan is right in the sweet spot for the W212 generation. It benefits from the 2014 model year refresh, with numerous interior and exterior upgrades, and this is also the final year that the E Class got the excellent 4.7 liter twin-turbo V8, which is really the star of the show.
That mill puts out a very healthy 402 hp and 443 ft-lbs of torque (at just 1600 rpm). Delivered to all four wheels through Benz’s familiar 7-speed automatic, it launches the E550 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, according to Car and Driver. All the while, it manages a decent 20 mpg combined, helping it (when new) to avoid the US gas guzzler tax, a first for an MB V8.
This example has about half the miles you’d expect for the model year, and it’s clean inside and out, with a blemish-free vehicle history report. Like most in the 550 trim, it is also very well equipped, with pretty much every option available.
The car is offered on craigslist HERE by a private seller in the Denver area for $21,690, which is on the low end of KBB’s estimate for one in very good condition.
