While I don’t particularly dislike the W203 generation C-class, it’s also never really stood out to me. But this terrific-looking C55 definitely grabbed my attention. The main attraction is the AMG-tuned M113 V8, putting out 362 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque – a healthy dose for the relatively light and compact package, which helps it to achieve a sub-5 second 0-60 time. And that’s without the aid – or complexity – of adding boost. Just good old-fashioned naturally-aspirated power, an increasingly rare thing nowadays.
Sure, it’s not as much of a drivers car as an M3 of similar vintage, but it would still be a hoot most of the time – and generally more livable, with a decent ride for a tuner car and far more durable interior materials. Plus, have you checked M3 prices lately? Something this nice generally costs at least $10,000 more.
To my mind, that makes this hardly-used, all-original, well-maintained C55 something of a bargain at less than fifteen grand.
