This 4th and final generation Grand Marquis offers a ton of old school American car charm for not a lot of dough. The front-engine, rear-drive, body-on-frame design was updated significantly for its final iteration in 2003, including a stiffer frame, suspension and steering upgrades, and styling tweaks inside and out. It retains Ford’s 4.6 liter modular V8, putting out 224 hp and 272 ft-lbs of torque, which is plenty to cruise around in grand luxobarge style.
This example is quite well preserved, as you’d expect from one with not even 20k miles yet, with an unblemished vehicle history report and, according to the seller, no outstanding maintenance needs. For simple and reliable transportation with loads of comfort as well as trunk space, it would be hard to do much better than this.
It’s offered on craigslist HERE by a private seller in the Phoenix area for $8000. That’s on the high side for one of these, but considering the miles and condition isn’t completely unreasonable.
