Here’s a nice-looking 986 generation Boxster for well under ten grand. Dark blue on gray is a terrific color combo, and a manual gearbox is a must-have for a pre-PDK model. There’s no mention of the IMS bearing having been changed, so you may have to factor that into the acquisition cost. Figure around $2500 to have it done at a specialist.

Seems like a real bargain for a one-owner car with all records. These Boxsters are silly cheap and I’m not sure why. Engine makes a great noise, from experience.


It’s hard to think of a better value among sports cars right now – maybe a Miata, if you factor in running costs. But the Porsche of course is a far more capable performer.
