This is one of the nicer W140 generation S-Class examples I’ve seen in a while (not quite as nice as this one, but still pretty nice).
From one of the last three years of the series, it benefits from the various improvements that Benz made along the way, including the excellent 722.6 5-speed automatic gearbox as well as Xenon headlights, and it does not have the dreaded biodegradable wiring harness that plagues earlier model years.
Though it has “only” the 4.2 liter M119 V8, I don’t think you’ll find it wanting for power. Plus that means it does not have the hydropnuematic rear suspension that came standard in higher level trims (S500, S600), which means less complexity and lower maintenance costs in the long run.
Offered on eBay HERE by a private seller in the Phoenix area for $8000, which I think is a good price for such a clean, well-kept example.
