A near perfect 1990s supercar for just $20,000 is pretty compelling on its own, but this one sweetens the pot with a great color combo, hardly any miles, zero modifications, and a longtime family ownership history.

If you thought Corvettes were too brutish with their old fashioned pushrod engines, the ZR-1 might change your mind. At its heart is a Lotus-designed all aluminum, overhead cam, 4-valve per cylinder, 375 horsepower V8 that revs to 7000 before the limiter kicks in. Tuners claim the robust mill will go to 8500 without worry.

This excellent looking example is offered on craigslist HERE by a private seller in the Denver area.

These great cars are never going to be any cheaper.

This handsome ZR-1 is still on the market, and the price is now just $20k…

The engine was designed by Lotus, and built by Mercury Marine.

Sounds strange, but if you ever go down the boat motor wormhole, you’ll find all sorts of cool ICE stuff going on in those things.

They’re also priced accordingly, those big outboards you see can cost like $30-40k a piece!

Here’s an old Motorweek video tour of the factory…
