The W201 series “Baby Benz” was a top seller for Mercedes and, outside of variants like the 2.3-16, is not particularly collectible. But it is especially well made. Most owners drove the crap out of them, and the cars took the beating and kept going. That’s why specimens you see on the road today look like apocalypse survivors – usually with faded paint, dented panels, and shredded interiors.
Not this one. It’s the lowest-mile example I’ve seen in years, with condition to match, and it features the desirable M103 inline six, a smooth workhorse of a motor, plus a rare and interesting factory color, which I’m guessing is Ruby Red.
At $8500, it’s all the money for one of these. But if you love the W201 as well as the color, it might be the one to splurge on. Assuming no hidden needs, $7500 or under would be well bought.
