This is one of the best preserved Saab 99 examples that I’ve ever seen offered. It looks great in mint green on near perfect green cloth, and seems to have been very well cared for throughout its life, mostly in California with a fairly recent move to New York’s Hudson Valley, where it seems to have been used mainly as an occasional weekend cruiser.

In GL trim (pretty much the base level for the US market), its carbureted inline four puts out 99 hp (fitting given the model name). That’s a bit less than the fuel-injected GLE (107 hp) and nowhere near the top-of-the-line Turbo’s 145 hp. Still, it should feel pretty spry given the car’s tidy proportions and its 4-speed manual gearbox.

It’s offered on craigslist HERE by a private seller in Nyack, NY, for $10,000, which seems about right for such a rare specimen.

Museum quality Saab 99! Makes sense this was a California car relocated to the East coast where snow and salt would eat it alive. Great find.

An old Saab with no dash cracks is really quite remarkable!

I know that car. It’s a very clean example.

The seller is Automobile Magazine columnist Jamie Kitman, who has quite an interesting collection of cars.

Holy cow – Jamie Kitman is one of my favorite writers!

Jamie’s Saab 99 popped up on Bring a Trailer HERE. Smart move, I think. My guess is that it’ll easily fetch the original asking price there, probably more.

This one went for $12,750 on BaT, which is nearly $3k above the original asking price (on craigslist). Well sold!

Nice ride. These old Saabs are really sharp.

As a journalism student myself I guess I’ll have to plan on collecting a bunch of weird old cars.
