1970 Volvo 142S Coupe $2300 original patina

A very honest (cosmetically beat up) 142S Coupe coupe with original CA blue plates and a San Francisco parking permit from 1997 still affixed to the trunk. I just love these old clunkers that someone has obviously loved and invested at one point in time and has managed to survive all these years. Makes absolutely no finance sense to restore but I wish someone will buy it and care for it a bit longer.

Post has been removed – looks like it sold very quickly!

“I wish someone will buy it and care for it a bit longer.”

Never fear, that is happening, though the patina is slowly vanishing.

Nice, while restoring things isn’t financially efficient, it is a whole lot of fun.

Painting is the best part.

Shinier indeed. Has it been wet sanded and buffed out?

Not yet, this is as-sprayed last weekend.

Once I have the entire car painted the final finish work will begin. My garage is only barely bigger than the Volvo so spraying more than a couple of panels at a time isn’t feasible.

From an ad to a restoration, this thread is great.

Keep them coming.

New photos!

Trunk lid, the vertical back and the front valence are all that is left.

Unseen here is a fully redone seam seal of the drip rails on both sides.
