If it doesn’t have too many outstanding needs, this clean-looking, driver-quality W111 coupe could be a great buy at $23,000. It’s one of the best looking big coupes ever made, in my opinion, even with a little bit of wear around the edges. And orient red on black leather is a terrific color combo.

Look out for rust hiding on the underside, which would be hard to make right without getting steeply upside down on the purchase. Their early fuel injection systems can also be a little fiddly. Otherwise, they are pretty simple cars, and most fixes are fairly straightforward.

Offered on the MBCA site HERE by a private seller in the Bay Area.

Great bargain indeed.

I see clapped out projects asking for ~$15K.

How much money do you have in your piggy bank? I can check mine.

Haha – a little! These cars are probably a pretty safe bet, I think. It’s never going to go out of style and, if it already drives well, probably won’t be very costly to maintain, either. But you’d probably be better off putting the money into your house. : )
